In the course of their research, the scientists compared the dream content of people from two African communities whose lifestyle is closest to hunter-gatherers, namely the Tanzanian Hadza tribe and the Bayaka tribe from Congo, with the dream content of Belgians, Swiss and Canadians, both healthy and suffering from mental disorders.
Scientists obtained information about the residents of Canada and Europe from past work conducted from 2014 to 2022, and the dreams of 234 representatives of the Hadza and Bayaka were recorded by researchers in special diaries. In total, they analyzed 896 dreams.
Thus, the scientists revealed significant differences between the dreams of representatives of African tribes and Europeans. In particular, the dreams of Africans are more dynamic, their beginning, as a rule, is a dangerous situation, and the end – staging a way to get rid of the threat. Anxious dreams among Europeans became more frequent only during the pandemic.
