Breakthrough water-laser cell proved to be thousands of times faster than conventional semiconductors

The advantage of this technology is that the speed of the lasers can change the state of water in just picoseconds. Modeled on such semiconductors typical microprocessor circuit, in theory, is able to operate at a frequency in the range of terahertz – thousands of times faster than modern gigahertz processors. Alas, this is still only an experimental development, a concept, but the idea of a water-laser semiconductor intrigues scientists and engineers.
